Translation Tool - Help Translate the Dashboard

StatusPage.me is available in multiple languages, and the translations are driven by community contributions. Any registered user can enable translator mode and suggest improvements directly from the dashboard.

Supported Languages

The dashboard currently supports the following languages:

English is the base language. All other translations are community-contributed.

Enabling Translator Mode

1. Log in and go to Profile (/user/profile)
2. Scroll down to the Translation Helper card
3. Toggle Enable Translator Mode on

Once enabled, a translator FAB (Floating Action Button) becomes available throughout the dashboard at the bottom right corner.

Suggesting Translations

With translator mode active:

1. Hold Ctrl+Shift (or Cmd+Shift on Mac) and click on any translatable text in the dashboard
2. A dialog will appear showing the current translation and the translation key
3. Type your suggested translation
4. Save it as a draft or submit it directly for review

You can also browse and manage all your suggestions from the View My Suggestions link on the Profile page, or visit /user/translations directly.

Drafts and Submissions

• Drafts are private to you. Edit or delete them anytime before submitting.
• Submitted suggestions go into a review queue. An admin will review each one for accuracy and consistency before applying it.
• Once approved, your translation is automatically applied within seconds and pushed to the open-source translations repository on GitHub.

Daily Limits

To maintain quality, there is a daily suggestion limit:

Trusted translator status is granted by an admin to users who consistently contribute high-quality translations.

Tips for Good Translations

• Keep the same tone and formality as the English original
• Preserve any placeholders like {{count}} or {{name}} exactly as they appear
• Keep translations concise; dashboard UI has limited space
• If a technical term (e.g. “SSL”, “CNAME”, “webhook”) has no standard translation in your language, keep it in English
• Check existing translations in the same area for consistency

Requesting a New Language

Don’t see your language? Anyone can request a new dashboard language by opening an issue on GitHub:

Include the language name and code (e.g. “Japanese — ja”) in your issue. Once the language is set up, the community can begin contributing translations through the built-in translation tool.

Open-Source Translations

All translations are maintained in a public GitHub repository:

github.com/hosted-status-page/translations

When an admin approves and applies a suggestion, the updated translation file is automatically committed and pushed to this repository. This means:

• Every accepted contribution is publicly credited in the git history
• The full translation source is open and transparent
• You can browse the current state of any language file on GitHub
